This cartoon comes from http://www.glasbergen.com/ and clearly shows the overwhelming conflict between people and technology. It also appears as though this cartoon targets the specific age group of where most technological confusions and frustrations arise. It is believed the Baby Boomer age has only been recently introduced into all that technology can offer and therefore it has not been around for this age to grow accustomed to. Of course, there is always the exception of specific people within this age group that are far more advanced with technology than speculated.
This cartoon also conveys a message of great meaning, by showing that the user is getting just as frustrated as the computer is. Many people don't realize that the computers we use are only as smart as the user. If a person doesn't know how to properly use a computer, the computer isn't going to work at its full capacity. Unfortunately, computers will not make the average bear any smarter. This cartoon makes me think of how much different and more difficult our world would be without computers. We always seem to be complaining about how frustrating computers are but the advantages outweigh the disadvantages ten fold.
ReplyDeleteI agree with this post that technology really fustrates the baby boomers because they didnt grow up with technology and they struggle to try and learn how to use it now that everything froms jobs, to home life, to even a car involves some sort of technology. Now with the current age group they have grown up with technology so it is easy for them to live with it and figure everything out where some baby boomers grew up before the computer really became a reliable source so it is harder for them to accustom to the lifestyle of relying on technology theses days.
